The difference between water-based paint and oil-based paint

Water-based paints and oil-based paints are two common types of paint, and they have the following main differences:

1:Ingredients: Water-based paint uses water as a diluent, and the main component is water-soluble resin. It produces water-based paints has high performance acrylic anti-rust primer and other water-based acrylic paints. But oily paint uses organic solvents (such as mineral oil or alkyd mixtures) as diluents, and the main component is oily resins, such as linseed oil in paints.

2:Drying time: Water-based paints have a relatively short drying time, it usually dries within a few hours, but take longer to fully cure. Oil-based paints take a long time to dry, taking hours to days to dry and weeks to months to fully cure.

3:Odor and volatility: Water-based paint has low volatility and low odor, and has less impact on human health and the environment. However, oil-based paint usually has strong volatility and odor, it needs to be used in a well-ventilated environment, and it also pollutes the environment more.

4:Cleaning and easy handling: Water-based paints are relatively easy to clean, it is easy to use water to clean brushes or other implements. Oil-based paint requires special solvents to clean, and the cleaning process is more cumbersome.

5:Durability: Oil-based paint have the high content of oleoresin, so it has better durability and weather resistance, it can be used in harsher environmental conditions. The durability of water-based paint is relatively poor, but with the continuous advancement of technology, the current water-based paint can also provide relatively good durability.

To sum up, compared with oil-based paints, water-based paints have the advantages of short drying time, human health and environmental friendliness, just like Gimlanbo paint is a water-based paint that also has these advantages. And oil-based paints are better in terms of durability and weather resistance. The choice of lacquer depends on factors such as specific needs, project requirements and work environment.
